This is the second portrait of Miaow. The photograph used for this painting was taken in her later years (caught in the bedroom playing with the curtains!). A great picture, but very small and slightly out of focus, so I was motivated to paint her.

This painting brought her back into our lives, along with her quirks and her mischievous ways. They say you can't train a cat. But Miaow used to sharpen her claws on our front door mat before entering the house (she'd do that next to you when you were wiping your feet), no scratching post for her! And at mealtimes, she would sometimes sit at her placemat and wait, but if she was asked to “sit” she would always do so before she was given her dinner. We still miss her incredible personality.
